Papa's new grandkid toy.
After almost 3 months, 6500 miles, about 15 states the best sign as always is this one.
We got to see some fall colors on our dash for home to avoid Hurricane Sandy in N.C.
And the after of the same kitchen.
The before of a kitchen in a trailer that Hurricane Irene damaged.
Our team built this great wheelchair ramp
A cotton picker at work in the field right next to the team living site.
Hyde county is Cotton country and the fields everywhere we white.
We arrived in Hyde County N.C. a few days early, so we worked with the team that was there.  Harv and I helped with this deck.
I had time to spin some yarn in the motorhome on the 2 1/2 hour ferry ride to the mainland
Seemed crazy to look out the window of the motorhome and only see water.
On Ocracoke Island on the way to the big ferry we saw the island ponies.  Not so wild anymore, but fenced so that they don't get hit by the cars on the highway.
At our disaster work assignment the internet was weak so I will have to catch up on the rest of our trip from home.
Soooo the wonderful vacation time on Hatteras came to an end.  Now on to the next island on the ferry.  A little scary taking the small ferry with the Motorhome and car in tow.

A school of dolphins joined me for sunrise.  The lowest right hand corner is a bird and the little black dot is the dolphin.  Okay okay, so it's not so big but I loved it.
Sunrise over the Atlantic on Cape Hatteras.
Yippee, Harv caught 4 nice sized red fish, gooood eat'in.

Through all the weeds and sand of life we are so thankful that Jesus Christ is our lighthouse.
In 1999 the lighthouse was moved from this foundation to where it is today.  The ocean has continued to wash away the shore so the lighthouse was in danger.
The view from the top.
The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse.   We climbed it, all 257 steps.  Another perfect day with blue skies.
Can't decide if I lean the camera  to the right or left but the lighthouse is definitely straight and so it the sign.

Taking the car ferry from Hatteras to Ocracoke Island.

The sugary sand of Cape Hatteras.

A view of the field in Kitty Hawk where Orville and Wilbur flew for the first time.  66 years from Dec 17, 1903 to man on the moon!

Williamsburg was our parting from dear ones, Ken and Joann, who had to return to Denver.  Now Harv and I head over bridges  and miles to Hatteras N.C. for a weeks vacation on the beach before we start work.
1712 Church.  Still standing strong, we love that the nation was walking with the Lord right from the start
Here is the spinning and weaving shop, I loved IT!
The inside of the palace served as the armory as well.  Walls were covered with weapons.  Quite the decor!
The governor's palace in Colonial Williamsburg VA.
Driving the beautiful roads in Conn. Trees everywhere but still no fall colors.

Really cool to see the cranberry bog!
The Start of the Cranberry harvest.  This machine is working in ankle deep water to just knock the cranberries off the little scrubs.  They will continue to flood the field until with water is above all the vegetation and then skim the berries off.
Plymouth Rock!!
The Harbor on Martha's Vineyard
The lighthouse on Martha's Vineyard from the ferry
The beautiful shores of Cape Cod
Salt ponds on the Cape Cod Nat'l Seashore

And oh my goodness, yes, Maine has beautiful sandy beaches.  This is Orchard Beach near Portland. It's Sept 15 and lots of swimmers and boogy board surfers.
We also went to Spring Point lighthouse and had lunch on the rocky cliff near by.
Portland Head Light, the most photographed lighthouse in Maine.  Perfect with the rocky shore.
We have been wanting to go to the Sand Dunes for a while but I never thought it would be in Maine.  We re camped right by an interesting sand dune deposit miles from the ocean.
And a little shopping in Freeport at L.L. Bean
Aaaaa Maybe next time a cruise.
